Gallery site featuring all attendees of a series of staff training events held over the summer. With over 1300 photos to display primarily on touch screens what seemed like a straight forward “gallery” became quite complex.

Python scripts were used to find the faces in the raw photos and crop around them. Image srcset was utilised to deliver the correct sized image out of the four available based on the device used to view the site. Lazy loading helped keep the scrolling swift and initial page loads short.

Amazon Cloudfront was used for content delivery, making sure the 5000+ files were delivered using the closest available server. As we as providing a robust platform to handle the initial burst of traffic from 1300 visitors at the same time.
